The largest project Alexandria has ever known in the 20th century. It facilitated the traffic flow in and out of Alexandria. Total length of the tunnel, including inlets and outlets is 1500 meters; width ranges from 15.80 to 26.75 meters and maximum height is 5.25 meters. The project comprises three covered ceilings: 114.40 and 28 meters long and an elevated footbridge over the tunnel: 26.75 meters long and 4.5 meters wide for pedestrians and to hang international telephone cables underneath.
