Eng. Amr Lashin, Governor of Aswan, inspected the ongoing works for the construction of the Daraa Free Axis and Bridge over the River Nile, being implemented by the Arab Contractors Company under the supervision of the Ministry of Transport and the General Authority for Roads and Bridges. The Governor was accompanied during his tour by Eng. Eid Kromer, Head of the Central Administration of the Authority’s Aswan Branch; Mr. Sayed Saady, Head of the City; along with relevant executive leaders. From the Arab Contractors Company, attendees included Eng. Khaled Nassar, Director of Bridges and Specialized Structures; Eng. Hossam El-Din Abdel Qader, Project Manager; and Eng. Mahmoud Abdel Wahab, Project Manager at the Authority. The Aswan Governor reviewed the details of the Daraa Free Axis and Bridge project, which is considered one of the most prominent strategic projects. The project extends over a length of 18 km, with a width of 21 meters, at an estimated cost of approximately EGP 2 billion, and has reached an implementation rate of about 70%. It is expected to represent a qualitative leap in transportation and logistics services within the governorate. The axis links the Western Desert Road with the Eastern Agricultural Road (Cairo–Aswan), passing through the Western Agricultural Road and crossing the River Nile, thereby contributing to unprecedented traffic flow improvements. The project will play a significant role in boosting economic and social development by facilitating the movement of people and goods, enhancing investment opportunities, and serving new urban communities. It will also reduce travel time and improve road safety standards. The implementation of the Daraa Free Axis comes within the framework of the state’s comprehensive vision to achieve sustainable development in Upper Egypt and to open new horizons for development, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving citizens’ quality of life and supporting integrated development plans across various sectors. The axis is being executed in two directions, each with a width of 7.5 meters (two traffic lanes per direction). It includes a total of seven bridges, among them four main bridges: the bridge over the Western Desert Road, the bridge over the Western Agricultural Road, the bridge over the River Nile, and the bridge over the Eastern Agricultural Road. In addition, there are three other bridges and two tunnels designed to resolve intersections with secondary roads and waterways.
